Easter Baking Has Begun

Easter will be here before we know it, so it's not too soon to start baking and decorating for the holiday. I can't wait until we add more eggs, bunnies, tulips and carrots to the mix. These are really fun decorate too, especially the egg--as no two are alike.

March Madness

We're a house full of Maryland Terrapin basketball fans, couldn't you hear all of the yelling coming from our house last night? Followed by the crying :( Oh well, we still have the big tournament. Congratulations to Greivis Vasquez (ACC player of the year) and to Gary Williams (ACC coach of the year).

These cookies aren't for us though (not surprising, as I rarely have time to bake for family enjoyment). Missy ordered these; she is one of our most loyal cookie fans.

It's A Boy!

When Audrey said we needed MORE baby cookies...I thought of it as an excuse to make more of those adorable baby face flowers. After this batch, I am slightly "babied out" though. It is a good thing Easter is on the way!

Any Occasion Bouquet

Nina ordered two flower bouquets, one as a "Thinking of You" and the other as a "Thank You". I especially like the watering can. I'll be on the lookout for more of those.

I have a few more of these flowers in the freezer, perfect for any occasion.

Baby Face

Joan and I spent most of the afternoon decorating these for two different baby showers.

We absolutely loooooooove the baby faces. I must give credit where credit is due though, they were inspired by Sugarbelle (a cookie decorator whose site I stalk often). If you would like to stalk her too, you can find her at: http://sweetsugarbelle.blogspot.com/

The pink and white are for a shower Mindy will be attending next weekend. Thanks for your donation and repeat business!

The purple and pink are for our friend and neighbor, Monica. We'll be attending her shower in two weeks and these beauties will be given as favors. Had we known the faces would have turned out so cute, we probably would have just made those for her shower. I hope the guests don't fight over which one they get to take home. I know we want faces!

By the way, the faces aren't drawn on with a Sharpie marker (as I think I may have lead Dave to believe). It's edible marker, our new decorating friend--love them!

Spring Has Sprung!

Oh how I wish it were true.

When Mindy asked for spring flowers we had 50 inches of snow on the ground, so I was more than willing to bring some spring into our lives. I hope her team enjoys this nice "change of scenery".

One Shoe Can Change Your Life

Terri ordered these for a suprise (shhhhhh!) bridal shower. The wedding will be held at Disney in April, so it was only fitting that the shower have a Cinderella theme.

These glass slippers sparkle like glass; the photos don't show it well. Although the order was for just glass slippers, I thought 40 of them together would look too plain, so I added a touch of color (the shower and wedding colors are black and white). I hope Terri likes this addition.

Tye Dye Mania

I delivered these today. I think they look cute in a bouquet!

Peace, man.

I see Audrey was baking today as well--great Cookie Monsters! I made these for a get well bouquet for a 14 year old and a birthday for a 9 year old. I have been wanting to try tye-dye T-shirt cookies for a while now. While mixing the icing colors (6 in all!) took some time, the decorating was a blast! These pictures truly don't do the cookies justice. These are my new favorites.

C is for Cookie

S is for Snow Day!!!

When Steve asked yesterday if I could make cookie monster cookies for Saturday, I told him only if there was no school today, otherwise I wouldn't have time. We both lucked out...I got the day off, he got his cookies.

Thanks for your donation to Damascus High School Post Prom.

A Winner!

The Colts will be a winner next Sunday...but I'm talking about another winner.

A few years back when Joan was researching icing for cookies for her niece's wedding, she decided the perfect icing was color flow. It is, we like it, have never used anything else. We have to buy our color flow from Michael's, it's not cheap, and we can't decorate without it. There have been many times I have gone to decorate cookies and realize I'm out which means an unplanned trip to the store.

I follow a blog, Cookie Crazie, check her out at www.cookiecrazie.blogspot.com. She does the most absolutely gorgeous cookie decorating I've seen. She uses an icing that contains Karo syrup. I tried it on these. I'm very happy with the results. The color turned out perfect (I couldn't have achieved this dark color with color flow). This icing dries with a nice sheen. The texture is slightly different than color flow, so next time I'll thin it a little so it looks smoother.

It still has to pass one final test--does it freeze well? Time will tell, but I'm guessing a winner!

The Queen of Hearts...

A double batch of Valentine cookies sit ready for purchase and consumption in my freezer. These ones are decorated with the flooding technique. They were fun to make.
