Need graduation cookies?

We must have graduation orders by the this Friday. Due to time constraints, we'll only be making DHS colors and hornets. We'll be happy to take other orders that can be delivered after June 11th.

Did you know that Damascus High School is the only school in the county that holds graduation at the school? Pray for good weather (June 4th), as Joan and I will be there. Things get complicated when it rains.

Summertime!

Terri ordered these for her daughter's bridal shower this weekend. All she told us was to make them beach themed and we could use whatever colors we wanted to.

I delivered them and got a preview of the party decor. These were a perfect match!

Best wishes and good luck to Terri--she'll need it, her daughters are getting married within weeks of each other!

I Scream, You Scream...

My neighbors were moving and I wanted to give them a farewell. I also was dying to break out the ice cream cookie cutter again. I don't think I can make another baby cookie for a long time!

Walking on Sunshine--Relay for Life

The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life will be held here in Damascus on Saturday, May 8th at the Fire Activities Center on Lewis Drive. Make sure you go!!! Opening ceremonies are at 2:00, fun, fun, fun until dark, then ending with the luminary ceremony that honors those who have lost their lives to cancer. There are acitivies for everyone, food, carnival games, silent auction, entertainment, and cookies of course!

I made these for Megan to sell at the event. She didn't have a preference as to the design, so I decided on these two. Her grandmother has recently undergone treatment for breast cancer so I made the pink ribbons. I decided the sunshines on sticks would appeal to the younger crowd. Only after I made the cookies did I learn that Megan's team name is "Walking on Sunshine" and that they are bringing awareness to skin cancer.

I'll be at the event, admission is free and all money you spend goes to the American Cancer Society.

Practice Makes Perfect

I volunteered to make a dozen table centerpieces for Damascus High School's baseball banquet and have been playing around with some ideas.

They'll have baseballs in them, of course, and I thought the baseball jersey would be easy to include too. But when it comes to Damascus High School sports you've got to have the hornet. I played around with the idea for days--I've never decorated a cookie with so much detail, and the extent of my artistic ability is drawing a stick figure.

Today was practice day. They actually don't look too bad. I'll make a few adjustments when I decorate the real thing, and then they should be perfect!

Paisley

I find myself looking at things when I'm out and about and thinking "wow, I could make that into a cookie!"

The paisley print in the napkin inspired me to make these. They'll be a perfect addition to my Tastefully Simple party next Friday evening. Cookies and cocktails with the ladies--doesn't get much better than that!

Tulips in Bloom

These tulips are quite versitile: Bunches for Denice and Amy (my two favorite secretaries for Administrative Professional's Day), for Melody's birthday, for Monica whose favorite flowers are tulips and who just had the most beautiful baby girl, and for Kendall (my #1 cookie and cupcake fan) who saves me many car trips by driving my son home. I usually "pay" her with a cookie or cupcake when she drops him off, but my freezer has been bare lately.

Groovy

I made this bouquet for a silent auction to benefit DABL (Damascus Area Baseball League). I was given free reign on the design. It would have been very easy to go with the baseball theme, but I thought this would reach out to more people. It is just as much fun to tie die cookies as it is to do real shirts!

Easter Baking Has Begun

Easter will be here before we know it, so it's not too soon to start baking and decorating for the holiday. I can't wait until we add more eggs, bunnies, tulips and carrots to the mix. These are really fun decorate too, especially the egg--as no two are alike.

March Madness

We're a house full of Maryland Terrapin basketball fans, couldn't you hear all of the yelling coming from our house last night? Followed by the crying :( Oh well, we still have the big tournament. Congratulations to Greivis Vasquez (ACC player of the year) and to Gary Williams (ACC coach of the year).

These cookies aren't for us though (not surprising, as I rarely have time to bake for family enjoyment). Missy ordered these; she is one of our most loyal cookie fans.

It's A Boy!

When Audrey said we needed MORE baby cookies...I thought of it as an excuse to make more of those adorable baby face flowers. After this batch, I am slightly "babied out" though. It is a good thing Easter is on the way!

Any Occasion Bouquet

Nina ordered two flower bouquets, one as a "Thinking of You" and the other as a "Thank You". I especially like the watering can. I'll be on the lookout for more of those.

I have a few more of these flowers in the freezer, perfect for any occasion.
